A Quick Observation On Supplements.

by etfwellness on June 9, 2007

A client asked me today, “What supplements should I take?”.

Assuming you have clear and delineated goals, you should ask yourself these questions first:

1. Am I training hard, in a safe and intelligent manner?

2. Am I eating correctly (real, whole foods emphasizing protein, fat, and vegetables) and in the correct amounts and frequencies (small portions, small meals spaced evenly throughout the day)?

3. Am I drinking enough water?

4. Am I getting enough rest (recovery days between workouts, proper sleep at night)?

If your answer to any of these questions is, “No”, then supplements probably won’t help all that much. Doing the above 4 things accounts for the lion’s share (I’d estimate it at 90%) of your success, regardless of the aesthetic or performance goal you’re looking to achieve.

Supplements are just that, supplements to an already effective program.

Next up: a list of “good” supplements and why.
